We’ve started to teach Mister the children’s catechisms. It’s just a list of simple questions to help them learn who God is, and what we believe. They get more complicated as you go, but they start out very basic.
The first question is: Who made you?
The answer is easy (despite what some people think) God.
It’s the next question that I just love his answer to. What else did God make?
The answer is all things.
Sometimes he remembers. But most of the time he says, “brothers,” with a big smile.
Aaah. So sweet to me. He defines so much of the world by those “brothers.” He calls HeroBoy and Czarina by their names, but the Duke and Chipmunk are just known as “brothers”. As in, “NO, BRUDDA!” or “MINE, BRUDDA!” and when he’s feeling nice, “HEY, BRUDDA!”
However it happens to be at the moment, they are important fixtures in his life. They are the first thing he thinks of after himself. True, it may be because he’s making sure they aren’t playing with his toys– but I’ll take what I can get right now. I know that this is only the beginning of lifelong friendships being forged. They’ve got a long way to go, but it’s good to know they’ve got each other. That makes a mama happy.
