She’s created something special, a sanctuary that calls us all. Hours pile up around us, as we repose on the porch swing, or play in the sandbox, or enjoy a game of croquet. Days and years pass, and the garden grows as the children do.
Here are some things you may see, strolling through her charming greens.
Jeweled strands of oak flowers…
Tiny pink wood sorrell, where rabbits graze…
Tinkling seashell windchimes…
Giant, green heads of lettuce for her table…
Puddles perfect for boys on bikes…
So much green, it must grow ’round itself…
A golfcart of grandchildren…
Garlic blooms, bound for the kitchen…
Fragrant roses…
Resurrection ferns, again and again…
Great iron chairs built for two…
Lazy cats…
Who sometimes rouse themselves in curiosity…
And lastly, sad faces, when it’s time to go…
MamaSue’s garden is a life long refuge. It is the place she played as a child, and later where she raised her own family. Now, her children’s children gather under that same canopy of branches, the same dark, green shade. Each corner is special, each space holds the imprint of her life, of our lives.
What a delight to have this lovely piece of earth to hold our memories.

Sherry,
Ya’ll aught to plan a trip to come visit sometime. You’d be surprised at how little has changed since the good old days. We could shoot snakes and run around with Gar teeth ‘knives’ like we used to.

What a beautiful post. There is something about a good writer that translates so easily to good photographer. Case and point…
